Support Assistant for Short-term and Leisure Activities in Trelleborg

In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful community where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 districts are creative meeting places that bubble with life. Here we want things to happen, tell stories about them, and come just as we are. This means we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Welcome to take your place on the journey!

The Mission of the Social Administration

The mission of the Social Administration is to work with social services and provide support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has the same opportunities in life. We want everyone to be able to be active and participate in society. With a focus on respect for the individual's right to decide over their own life, we are responsible for three important areas: care and support, assistance for people with disabilities, and help for individuals and families. Our goal is for everyone to receive the support and care they need.

The Workplace

Within the Department of Functional Support, there are several group homes, daily activities, children’s and youth homes, as well as short-term and leisure activities according to LSS.

We are now looking for you to join our particularly resource-intensive unit as a support assistant, creating a calm and safe environment for our youngest users. Our short-term and leisure activities are aimed at children and young people with disabilities who have decisions according to LSS § 9. We operate in various premises in northern Trelleborg.

The purpose of the operation is to provide relief for parents and to give children and young people a change of environment, as well as to support their development in everyday life. In our short-term and leisure activities, we work from a salutogenic perspective while supporting and training children in what they want to improve. Our goal is to adapt and strengthen the individual's ability to live an independent life with good living conditions.

What We Can Offer You

  • Diverse work
  • Professional development
  • Municipality-wide benefits
  • The best colleagues

Job Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you are a key person in supporting and guiding children and young people/users based on a pedagogical and practical approach in their daily lives, including care/hygiene, activities, cooking, and skills training. All with the aim of increasing the users' independence.

Based on the users' implementation plan, you work to establish, drive, and follow up on the goals of the implementation plan and realize the highest possible quality and participation in everyday life. Additionally, you take into account individual needs and conditions with a strong child focus where influence and self-determination are central. You have a legal obligation to document and to follow and establish implementation plans.

With good and clear communication as well as a positive approach, your task is to create calm and safety for the children and young people/users, regardless of the situation. You will have evidence-based methods such as KASAM, low-arousal responses, and clarifying pedagogy at your disposal.

Threats and violence may occur in the workplace, which means you are expected to work with a low-arousal approach and adapt your attitude based on the user's needs and issues. You work from a solution-focused approach and need to handle unforeseen events in a calm and secure manner.

Within the internal organization, you primarily collaborate with other support assistants, support pedagogues, and management to continuously develop the operation and achieve set goals.

Qualifications

For the role of support assistant in short-term and leisure activities, we are looking for you who have:

  • A high school diploma from the child and leisure program, preferably with a focus on social work or pedagogy, or alternatively a care and nursing program, preferably with a focus on disabilities. Alternatively, other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
  • You should have previous experience with documentation. Since communication and documentation are important parts of the operation, we expect you to have a good command of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Experience working with the target group of children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) is meritorious, as well as if you have worked with sign language support, clarifying pedagogy, and/or low-arousal responses. Perhaps you have experience from the school world and are curious to further develop with the target group in another type of operation.

In addition to the above, you are a calm and secure person with good self-awareness. You have a strong user focus and always start from the belief that “Children do well if they can.” You are responsible and see opportunities rather than obstacles. You are flexible, open, and see possibilities instead of barriers. You use your analytical skills and strive to improve the operation for our users. In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Before an employment offer, an acceptable extract from the police criminal record must be presented along with identification documents.
